We decided to name the ASUS M5A99FX PRO the best motherboard for FX8350! Hold your applause, though!

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

ASUS M5A97 R2.0

The Asus M5A97 will bring unbelievable RGB lighting to your AMD FX 8350 processor, all the connections you’ll ever need on your motherboard, and much more. Although the RGB lighting is not completely relevant to the unit’s performance, it should not be overlooked. While the motherboard itself is designed for the slightly older version of the AMD FX 8350, its shape and socket types match perfectly with the latest version of the processor.

It is loaded with a lovely chipset that allows the combined motherboard and processor to work as well as you’ll ever want! With the M5A97, we can only point to one fault–you can’t overclock it. The ASUS M5A79 is an amazing motherboard to match your AMD FX 8350 processor and the setup of your entire tower. Compatibility, versatility, strong performance and cool lighting will help you!

ASUS M5A99X EVO AMD Motherboard

ASUS M5A99X EVO

The ASUS M5A99x pairs nicely with the AMD FX 8350 processor, similar to the smelly cabernet sauvignon pairs. It is also well equipped to work with a variety of different operating systems and their different versions, it is very organized and easy to set up. The cables that come with the M5A99X are clearly marked, so you can see where they need to be connected to the other parts of your computer tower.

You can use it with various operating systems such as Linux and Windows, but it may not be compatible with the latest Windows versions. The motherboard itself, which is very easy to assemble, is clearly designed and organized so that it fits perfectly in the correct place. It’s well-built, well-designed, and easy to integrate into the rest of your platform, features you want when you decide which motherboard to use with your AMD FX.

ASRock 970M PRO3

ASRock 970M PRO 3

The ASRock 970M PRO3 is the best you can buy for MATX AM3+. This board is physically solid for basic overclocking. Except for some easily fixable BIOS quirks, I see no reason why you should choose any other board when you build an AM3 + MATX system. The VRM can handle up to 120A so the FX 9000 series is not handled.

However, this board handles all overclocked ALL FX CPUs up to 4.75Ghz on 1.525V. This means that if the cooling on the VRM is enough, you can overclock more than 1.45V on this board. Otherwise, you will have to stay below 1.45v or it will overheat or burn out the thermal gas. Stop, drop, and roll—oh no! This board is very bad for overclocking RAM and FSB, so benchmarking is not good.

The board officially does not support the 9000 FX CPU series. The fact that none of the components in the VRM phases belong to names is of concern. However, the BIOS limits you to using only safe voltages from which I calculated that the VRM is most likely built on the core for 120A and on the NB for 30A.

Honestly, this board annoys me because it’s not difficult to build a small high current VRM. The only obstacle is the cost, so considering how many AM3 + boards cost more than this one, I don’t think it would be more desirable to add a 160A, 200A or 240A VRM to this board.

Gigabyte 970A

Gigabyte 970A

The AMD 970 chipset is not as fast as the higher ends of 990X and 990FX, despite many structural similarities. The differences in the PCMark result may be over-amplified, although in real life you will not miss much performance by choosing this board.

It doesn’t really feel like a value board at all. Actually, Crossfire and SLI support is the only thing that really is missing. There is only one PCIe x16 slot for graphics cards, but there seems to be little reason to upgrade to a more expensive AMD 990X board anyway as long as you don’t plan a dual card rig.

However, one of the best features is the set of increased power USB ports around the back. If you’ve picked up an Apple iPad 2 or an Android tablet like the BlackBerry PlayBook recently, you may have noticed that standard USB slots don’t provide enough juice to charge their batteries.

Verdict

We know we have three ASUS motherboards in one guide in a row! But ASUS is the top brand of motherboards. Again, choosing a winner can be a bit tough, but the award for the best motherboard for FX8350 goes to ASUS M5A99FX PRO for its great features and low price. Drum roll!
